Custom Sapphire Diamond Wedding Band

The RG108 sapphire and diamond wedding band has been one of the best selling sapphire wedding bands over he past few years. The Kaisilver designing team recently announced a major upgrade to this sapphire ring. The upgrade related to the weight of the sapphire diamond ring, this was done without changing the external appearance of the sapphire ring. This move did show on the price tag and few buyers did decide to go for cheaper options but, the overall longterm benefit to buyers cannot be denied. The same ring now weighs around 15 to 25 grams and since this is a custom made sapphire diamond wedding band, the weight of the ring will in each case be based on the ring size and dimensions.

The increase in durability of the sapphire diamond ring is achieved by increasing the thickness of the gold. Most jewelers do heavy scooping of gold inside the wedding band and this decreases the thickness of the metal. Such a light weight sapphire diamond wedding band could dent or bend easily. This can also lead to the gemstones and diamonds becoming loose and dropping off. A light weight ring would be cheaper but, would gradually incur recurring expenses for repairs and maintanence. This is something that the Kaisilver team has made great efforts to explain, the idea is to provide buyers with a sapphire wedding ring that stays in shape for a long time. External design consultants pointed out that the benefits of a good metal weight were undeniable and had a suggestion for buyers. It is a good idea to choose white sapphires instead of diamonds. Sapphires are natural and come second in hardness to only diamonds. You would therefore get a modestly priced sapphire wedding band with white and blue sapphires without compromising on longterm durability.

Many buyers have gemstones of their own and would like to make gemstone mountings to fit those gems. While this is technically possible, it is necessary that the buyer and the jeweler understand a few important things. The buyer expects to get the gem stone mounting and then have the gemstone set by a local jeweler. Assuming that the buyer is a genuine customer and the jeweler is honest, problems could still arise when the gemstone mounting is finally made.

Buyers provide information of the gemstone to the jeweler, lack of knowledge of gemstone and jewelry production can cause the information to be incomplete. If the jeweler prepares a gold or silver gemstone mounting based on this incomplete information, problems could arise. If you would like to have a custom ring mounting made and have your own gemstone set in the ring, remember a few things. Every gemstone has a depth, when you say that you have an 8mm round citrine, you have not detailed the depth of the gemstone. In this case your gem stone mounting could be too deep or too shallow for your gemstone. Ideally, the jeweler should make sure that complete information has been provided by the buyer.

Another issue is regarding the cut of the gemstone. Most jewelers assume that the gemstone is a normal faceted cut. If you wish to make a gemstone mounting for a ring with a 10x8mm oval citrine, the jeweler would create the gem stone mounting presuming that the gemstone was a faceted cut. If it turns out that your citrine was cabachon (smooth) cut and not faceted, the custom gemstone ring mounting might not be able to accomodate the gemstone. Make sure that you inform the jeweler regarding the type of cut too.

If you think that sending the gemstone across to the jeweler would work better, you might be right. The jeweler is more likely to create a perfect gem stone mounting for the gem stone. But, many jewelers are worried about receiving gem stones from buyers. The reason is a bit complicated but it is necessary that you understand the view point of the jeweller. The jeweler is worried that he could be accused of changing the gemstone by replacing it with a fake gem stone or with a gem stone of lower value. There have been cases where buyers have innocently purchased loose gemstones and paid high prices for them. The gemstone seller ships a fake gemstone to the buyer, the buyer does not do a professional check on the gemstone and presumes that it is the right gemstone that was purchased. On receiving the gemstone mounting or ready ring, the buyer gets it professionally evaluated and checked. The gemstone then turns out to be a fake and the buyer blames the jeweler for switching the gemstone!!!.
